How does
SweetCash work?
SweetCash is a
cashless, prepaid spending account on your Sweet Briar
Card that is accepted
around the Sweet Briar College campus. You must
add value to your account
before using SweetCash to make purchases.
You must have sufficient value available in your SweetCash account to pay
for each transaction. Each time you use your SweetCash account, the amount
of the transaction will be deducted from your account. You may not spend
more value than you have. Unused balances roll over semester to
semester and year to year.

What's the
difference between my Board Plan and
SweetCash?
Both accounts are
accessed by your Sweet Briar
Card.
All residential students
are required to participate in the standard 20 meal per week board plan
which includes an Extended Dining Option that allows 3 purchases per week at
the Houston Bistro and the remaining to be used in Student Commons. Students
living in the Green Village are required to participate in the standard 10
meal per week board plan. In addition to the standard board plan,
students may opt to purchase the Board PLUS Plan which allows for additional
purchases at the Houston Bistro. Each time you access a campus dining
facility - Student Commons or the Houston Bistro depending on your plan - a meal is deducted
from your weekly balance.
SweetCash is a
prepaid spending account that is accepted at all dining locations on campus,
The Book Shop, laundry facilities and vending machines. It is designed
to eliminate the need to carry cash or other cards around campus.
SweetCash is also
welcomed at two local CVS Pharmacy locations.
You or
your parents must add value to SweetCash before using it for purchases.
Value in SweetCash rolls over from semester to semester and from year to
year.

business day received. If
a check is returned to us by your financial institution for insufficient
funds, the deposit will be reversed from your

How is
SweetCash
charged when using my account for laundry?
All machines are $2.00 per
cycle
For non-residents,
when you swipe your Sweet Briar Card
in laundry facilities, $2.00 for each transaction (washers and
dryers) is initially reserved and held in a "pending" status in
your SweetCash account. After
you select and start your machine, the system tracks the machine
type selected. Transactions from laundry rooms are settled
within the transaction system daily. During the settlement
process, the transaction is changed from its pending status and
is posted to your account as $2.00.
Similarly, when
resident students use their Sweet Briar
Card in laundry rooms, $2.00
for each transaction (washers and dryers) is initially reserved
and held in a “pending” status in your “Free Laundry” account.
After you select and start your machine, the system tracks the
machine type selected. Transactions from laundry rooms are
settled within the transaction system daily. During the
settlement process, the transaction is changed from its pending
status and is posted to your account as $2.00. If you exceed
your Free Laundry credits for the semester, the system will then
look to post the transaction fee of $2.00 to your
Sweet Cash account.
If you swipe your Sweet
Briar Card and never select a
machine, your pending transaction of $2.00 will be held for 7
days. At that point, the pending authorization will expire and
the $2.00 will be released to your available balance.
From the
Account Summary screen,
click on View Transactions (for the
SweetCash account OR Laundry Account) to see the status
of each transaction.

What happens if I swipe my card at a self-service location and the machine
does not work?
If the
self-service machine does not work properly, the funds for that transaction
could be held in a “pending” status for seven (7) days. Then, it will be
released back into your available balance. From the Account Summary
screen, click on View Transactions (for the Cash account) to see the
status of each transaction.
If your funds
do not return to your available balance after 7 days from your initial
